About 20 minutes from Quinta do Palame, visitors can explore one of the most important dolmens in the Bragança district – the Zedes Dolmen.

This megalithic monument, located near Quinta do Palame, probably dates back to the third millennium BC and is also known as Casa de Moura.

The Zedes Dolmen consists of a polygonal chamber formed by nine overlapping upright stones, upon which a large capstone rests.

The entrance to this remarkable monument, which is approximately 5,000 years old, faces east and is marked by the presence of a vestibule.

This is one of the best-preserved dolmens in the Bragança district, standing alongside other prehistoric remains in the region in terms of historical significance and visual impact, including the numerous pre-Roman settlements, some truly remarkable, that frequently appear throughout the landscape surrounding the Douro River.
